It took me literally 10 min to install and 1 minute to add it to my Samsung smartthings hub. I believe it connects via zigbee 3.0. I do not have an aqara hub. I just put in the batteries and the lights started blinking and opened my smartthings app connected to the smartthings hub and voila, it was auto detected and automatically added as a switch. It has on and off state. I also have ikea water leak sensor added to smartthings so i just added a routine/automation so then when the sensor detects water, it turns off the water valve. This device is a no brainer and the best and most important smart home investment ever. P.S. I have tried using the cheaper zigbee/matter smart water valves before this but either they were too weak despite being connected with an actual power adapter or they did not close the valve completely. In the end I'd say, just spend $100 and get this product.. You won't regret it.

    This is a great addition to my Home Assistant environment. When going away for a few days, I set the HA mode to vacation and the main water valve to my home closes. When I return, it opens automatically. No concerns about floods while I'm gone. Battery still going strong.

    Tricky to install on our main1/4 turn water valve, perhaps because it’s diameter is larger than most water valve. It was difficult to secure without the valve tilting.
    >> A valve with two attachment points would work better.

    Additionally, once installed, it would not connect to the camera hub G3.
    >> you first need to update the hub firmware through the Aqara App (Profile > Firmware Update). This will allow you to connect the valve to the hub. Then you can update the firmware of the valve. Once done, it worked fine.
    ** Aqara should provide a note in the box or in the instructions manual that firmware updates are required, as I lost valuable time finding this out.

    Surprisingly strong mechanism by Aqara as our valve is not that easy to turn.

    Ever since I first saw the water shut-off valves some 5 years go, I was waiting for them to come down in price from the $500-$1000 that they were going for! I'm sure those fancy ones had their benefits, but they were just unaffordable.

    This one however, does a fantastic job! I've only used it a couple times so far, and it's been great!
    It's nice that I can leave for vacation and remotely turn off the water supply if I forgot to do so in advance! Or check that I did, in fact, remember to turn it off...

    Now I've not paired it with any water sensors or have any automated routine yet, but I can confirm that it does work with Samsung Smarthings (via Matter I think?), but it shows up as a regular on/off switch. Works for what I need it though, so I'm happy.

    Aqara needs to go back to the drawing board with this one. My ball valve had a butterfly handle, but it was too large for the T1 valve controller and I could not get proper clearance underneath the controller to make it work (even with the included butterfly accessory). I then changed the valve handle to a lever type. My pipe was too large to use the standard bracket mount, so I tried using the pipe clamp as per the instructions. After a couple of hours of attempts, it was not possible to secure the T1 tight enough to the pipe. Attempting to close the valve simply made the T1 itself move and contort.

    My return window is passed so I'll be selling this off. Time to move on to the more expensive Zooz Titan and see if that works.

    I had to return it. I really wanted for this to work, but it was wobbling and I had to manually intervene to open or close due to the movement of the device. It needs better brackets and it that way it will work without wobbling. Great torque, my valve is on a vertical position, and maybe this caused the problem. I love Aqara and have many other devices, bu this one did not work for me as expected.

    It didn't close my valve all the way, only about 95%. I also couldn't really get it to sit centered on my valve without removing one of the clamp screws. It still worked with the one screw, but was a bit wobbly. I couldn't trust it to be reliable in an emergency, so I sent it back and ordered a Zooz Titan instead (way happier with that despite costing 2x more).

    I was hesitant to buy this shut off valve because of several reviews suggesting it might not fit my pipe anatomy. But I recently had a $8000 repair bill for water damage in my home and I was desperate for a solution that would prevent another water disaster.

    The Aqara shut off valve arrived quickly. I was impressed with the build quality. Expecting disappointment, I immediately went to the main water shut off valve in my basement to check if the device would fit. I was overjoyed to see that it was going to be a perfect fit! It was a very easy install, taking no more than 15 minutes. Now the real test- would the thing actually work? I’m pleased to say that it worked perfectly, completely closing and then opening the valve. Then I tested automatic function by placing one of my Aqara water sensors in a dish of water. Almost instantaneously the device began closing the water valve. In less than 15 seconds my main water valve was completely closed. Time will tell about battery life. But for now I am very pleased.
