The Plugable USB-C Dual 4K HDMI Adapter (USBC-6950M) lets you connect two 4K 60Hz displays - even if your computer doesn’t natively support multiple external monitors, like base model M1, M2, and M3 Macs. It also works seamlessly with Windows 10+ and ChromeOS 100+ systems that support Thunderbolt, USB4, or USB-C.

Powered by the DisplayLink DL-6950 chipset, this adapter enables dual-display functionality through a single USB-C connection. DisplayLink driver installation is required - on macOS, setup involves downloading the driver and adjusting system settings; on Windows, the driver typically installs automatically through Windows Update.

Once connected, you’ll enjoy a smoother multitasking experience across two extended screens, perfect for spreadsheets, video calls, creative work, and more. Whether you're working from home or in a professional office, the USBC-6950M is a reliable solution for modern, multi-display productivity.

Compatibility

Mac Compatibility Compatible with MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Mini, with M1 / M2 / M3 silicon. macOS 11 or higher supported. Requires installation of DisplayLink Manager App.
OS Compatibility Compatible with macOS 11+, Windows 10 and newer, and ChromeOS 100.x and newer.
Monitor Compatibility Supports two high-resolution monitors up to 4K 60Hz (3840x2160 @ 60Hz) when connected to displays that support the desired resolution. HDMI to HDMI connection required. HDMI to Thunderbolt or DisplayPort Alt Mode (USB-C) connections not supported.
Software Compatibility DisplayLink is a flexible and versatile technology that’s great for most users’ workflow. But there are a few scenarios where it’s not the right fit such as gaming and HDCP (copy-protected) content playback from Bluray/Netflix/Prime Video/iTunes/Hulu/etc.

  • DisplayLink must be installed manually on macOS (typically automatic on Windows). macOS users must also allow 'Screen Recording' for proper function. No data or images are stored or recorded

  • Yes, the USBC-6950M is compatible with Windows 11, 10, 8.x, 7 and ChromeOS 100.x or later.

  • Yes, in addition to the laptop monitor, you can achieve either a single external mirror or extended, or dual mirror or extended monitor configuration for a total of three screens.

  • No, copyright protected content that uses HDCP will not work - this includes video streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, etc.

  • As with all electronics, heat will be generated under normal operating conditions. The adapter processes video data and is tested to meetsafety standards, ensuring safe, reliable operation.
