This is a hard pass for me. I tried multiple wireless dongles, and this one, by far, is the worst I have used. There is a considerable amount of lag; at times, I miss my exits, and the music often disconnects.
I cannot recommend this wireless adapter; it is not useful at all and does not work well with my Android Auto. I have a Gen 3 Mazda 3; it's just not good.

I have a 2020 Ford Ranger. I setup this device in just a few seconds and have been using it for a couple months. I had no problems setting it up and it has worked just fine for me ever since. I have a google pixel 8 and I am able to use with android auto just fine in my truck. I do have issues with the music on my phone but I think that is more an issue with the music formats. I have some high res music files in flac format on my phone and I find if I try to play my music files directly that it will just play the first couple seconds and then move on to the next song. This is only for music files on my phone though and I think it is more due to the music format than the device itself.. I am able to use spotify and play podcasts just fine. I can make and receive phone calls and it works well. The navigation through android auto works fine as well. I am more used to my truck's navigation so I sometimes unplug the device and just use my truck's built in navigation. Again, this isn't due to issues with the device but more the user being me who likes to use what he is used to. The android maps are more up to date though so I like having the option of being able to use both wirelessly if needed.

Glad I received this for review and I never thought I would use it as much as I do but my usage has been fine and relatively problem free. There are a lot of phone and car combinations out there so it might be a stretch to have a device like this work well with andrioid, apple and a bunch of different cars but for my combination it works well and I am happy.

Don’t waste your time and money instead of this buy 200 bucks tablet from Chinese company that would be more reliable than this product, resaon of this five star reviews is this customer is not using this product for its real purpose, you can buy wireless carplay dongle just for 15 bucks even those products are working way better than this, you will not find much information about it and manual that comes with it is very confusing.

Comes with various USB cables for compatibility for new and older cars. The device is about the size of a thick credit card, which is significantly bigger than other wireless Carplay/Android Auto dongles on the market. But compared to other dongles in the market, this one comes with Airplay support for those who need/want such feature. The dongle pairs easily, and Carplay does pop-up within 20-30 seconds of power on. And another feature is that this supports OTA updates, not that you should buy this expecting additional feature updates not listed.

Do note like other wireless Carplay dongles on the market, there is a 1-2 seconds delay when changing tracks when using wireless Carplay mode.

Airplay feature can be toggled via the button located on the side of the device. Though there is significant (1-2 second) audio delay between whats shown on the infotainment system and car speaker. On top of that your experience will vary car to car, as not all infotainment screens are HD. On a RAV4 infotainment screen the picture quality was not clear at all (due to infotainment screen and not the dongle itself) and with the audio delay issue, it resulting in a not so fun experience.

If your car has and HD screen where you can make use of the Airplay feature then this wireless Carplay/Android Auto dongle might work for you. Though if you're just looking to get a wireless Carplay/Android Auto dongle so you don't need to pair your phone to the car, there are cheaper options out there.

Serious Connectivity Issues with iPhone, but Android Works Fine – Not Recommended

I am using an iPhone 16 Pro Max (iOS 18.3), and the firmware of this product has also been updated to the latest version. However, my iPhone has abnormal connection issues, making it difficult to connect successfully. Even when it does connect, the volume buttons on my 2021 Toyota RAV4’s steering wheel and the touchscreen volume controls do not function properly.

On the other hand, my OnePlus 12 running Android 15 works perfectly with this product. The only drawback when using an Android phone is that even if you press the product’s button once to switch to another phone, the Android device will still forcefully reconnect unless you manually turn off Bluetooth. However, sometimes Bluetooth cannot be turned off. I do not recommend this product at all.

I am using the OTTOCAST MX Wireless CarPlay in my truck. The truck also has a GPS display, but frequently it is easier to find destinations on the phone and then use CarPlay to view the maps.

The OTTOCAST also needs a wired connection to the CarPlay port in my truck, but it is more compact than an iPhone and can easily be tucked out of the way when connected to the port. When first getting in the truck, it is simply a question of selecting the CarPlay icon on my truck’s display screen and CarPlay starts up. Because there is no need to connect to the phone when in the truck, I can leave the phone in my pocket, or I can use the phone for snapping pictures, etc. without having to stop and disconnect the phone from a USB cable.

Initial setup was easy – I plugged the OTTOCAST into the CarPlay USB port in my truck, and then went through the Bluetooth pairing steps (as shown in the instructions) to connect my iPhone to the OTTOMAP. Once that was done, I just had to select CarPlay from my truck’s menu to bring it up.
I also followed similar steps to get the AirPlay working. AirPlay with the OTTOCAST provides a straight mirroring of the iPhone screen on the trucks LCD display, the same as would occur when mirroring an iPhone to a TV.

The LCD display software in my truck can be quite finicky when it comes to CarPlay and other functions. Shortly after initial setup, I had to reset the LCD display system to get CarPlay working even when directly cabled to my iPhone. Once the wired connection worked, CarPlay also worked fine with the wireless OTTOCAST. However, after doing the reset, I could no longer switch to AirPlay screen mirroring. Again, I suspect this is an issue with the truck’s LCD display software and not an OTTOCAST issue.

I have a 2017 Subaru. I don't have airplay on my car, but I do have USB play and go.

Recently, I took my car into the shop for my tune up and they gave me a new car with airplay and I loved it so much! It was so easy and convenient!

Getting this all working was confusing, even with directions. I'll break it down easily..

You have to sign into the Bluetooth AND wifi of the device. Both have to be on and signed into your device, then, you're phone will jump over to your cars BT and the cast wifi and it works. Well... once you're synced, you have to restart your car, then you're all setup!

My USB never kept connection before and a bump in the road would cause me to lose my GPS which is horrible when you're in different state, on the highway. 😱

This... changed everything! It's just like the new rental I had! Connects automatically with GREAT sound quality. There is a different in sound quality between just using my BT and then using my plug and play. The sound quality matches my plug in play, which sounds better than regular BT.

Overall, a little confusing setup, but it works like a charm now that it's installed!

It's literally top 3 best things I've ever gotten from �鶹��. It really saves me a lot of time and frustration and hassle and works great so far!! Automatically connects every time I get into my car, as long as my wifi and my BT is on and connected.

It's not worth $150, though. Apple ones are half that price, but... I'd pay $60-75 for that convenience! 👍 💯
