- Reviewed in Canada on May 7, 2022Verified PurchaseI have owned 3 different waffle makers in the last three years since the pandemic hit. I have gone through 2 other waffle makers that just did not make the cut for me. This is my third waffle maker. I purchased the Krup Waffle Maker and received it within a very short time. Here is my list of Pro and Cons on the Krup Waffle Maker:
Pro:
The box came, undented and no scratches.
Easy to remove and put on the waffle plates. They are dishwasher safe but very easy to wash by hands.
Very Sturdy and not at all flimsy (no plastic pieces except for the handle.)
Can make 4 waffles at once without have to wait.
Has a green light to let you know when waffles are done and makes a noise.
Con:
I don't really think this counts as a con but it is quite heavy. So if you don't like heavy small appliance this is not for you.
No other issue for me.
Price point it costs the same as all my other waffle makers and those I felt were not as sturdy. and made less waffles at a time. I make waffles almost every second weekend so this has held up quite well in my books. If you love making waffles for your family, this is the best one!
- Reviewed in Canada on May 15, 2022Verified PurchaseSo reviews seem to be mixed on this. As much pro reviews as user reviews. I was shopping for something bit more pricey initially (the Breville ones at 300$). I finally decided to go with this given I'm not the type to make waffles every day. First off, let's be honest, this is a reasonably priced unit and hence, yes, heating and cooking times might be a bit longer. But it makes 4 decent size waffles. So here we go:
- if you use a homemade batter recipe, 2-3 waffles will be plentiful per person. If you're making for a big group, simple, keep them warm in a 200 degree oven or make a few days ahead, freeze and pop in the toaster or oven at 350. (Try the recipes from New York Times or Serious Eats among others)
- if saving, put them on a cooling rack between batches
- yes, I do use a light flavoured - eg. Canola - spray oil despite being nonstick, this will guarantee the longevity of the nonstick. This being said, make sure your spray contains no propellants or soy lecithin, this is what degrades the nonstick over time. No, it does not make my waffles gummy, chewy or cakey, it's all in the cooking time...
- i preheat and cook at the max setting (5). It will beep the first time and the green led will light to indicate it is preheated. Spray and then I pour around 1/3 cup batter per square. Close it up. Let it cook. The led will turn green again and beep once the machine considers it's cooked. Continue cooking, don't peek, trust me! I let it go until there is only very little steam coming out along the sides, this will ensure they are nice and golden and crisp.
- waffles are supposed to be fun and a treat, so if you're in a rush, this might not be the unit for you! Enjoy the moment people, what's an extra few minutes...
- the plates can be removed for easy cleaning (which the Brevilles' do not offer sadly) which was probably my most motivating choice along with size of waffle. The unit can also be stored standing for less space if this matters for you
I would definitely buy this unit again. And you know what, for people wanting to make big batches, you can buy 2 for the same price of just 1 of many brands, so just do that.
Enjoy.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 12, 2022Verified PurchaseThe waffles are good, have cooked both instant waffles with powder/water and a few of the recipe recommendations in their manual and both have tasted good with a satisfactory quality. Max settings produces crispy/toasty waffles and lower settings produce softer/fluffier waffles.
Clean up has been extremely easy. A simple wipe of the exterior and removable dish-washer safe waffle plates makes it very easy to maintain compared to a non-removable plate waffle maker.
My number 1 issue I've had has been the quality of the machine feeling overall cheap.
Examples:
1) The green "ready" light doesn't work at all and the orange "cooking" light always remains on making them effectively useless since the chime noise the machine makes when the waffles are done is really how you're knowing when they're cooked.
2) The overall quality of the screws/fasteners holding the metal cooking iron to the machine feel cheap. It's a thin, cheap aluminum that has browning/staining after the very first use and it doesn't feel like they will have much longevity with repeated use. A bit of speculation here as so far there haven't been any problems so far but previous/other reviews have mentioned their machines not working after a few months. Time will tell.
3) The underside of the waffle plates have 2 sets of screws/washers/brackets/ that are screwed into the plates and used to slide and hold the plates in place on the waffle maker above the cooking iron. One of the screws on my bottom plate didn't attach properly.
After the very first use this one singular screw fell off the plate. Attempting to re-screw it back in had it basically had it spinning in place and barely catching onto the pre-machined hole as if the screw was too short. I had to get rid of the washer for it to be able to re screw back onto the plate completely but unfortunately now without the washer keeping it firm and in place the bracket wobbles along with the plate on that particular side when it's clicked into place. Just an inconvenience/annoyance rather than something that affects the overall quality of the waffle/cleaning, especially when it after the very first use.
Overall. It's decent for the price but has its pros and cons
The waffles are great. They're large, filling, and cook properly. No problems there so far.
The cleaning is great. 100% worth it in this regard with removable plates. Pop em out, throw them into the washer and that's it.
The overall quality of the machine and its parts feels subpar. Reasons as mentioned above.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price
Verified PurchaseVery nice waffle maker. I like that the griddle “irons” are removable and easy to clean. The heating is fairly even and cooks the batter thoroughly. I follow the recipe (provided in the owners manual) for the Belgian waffles. They come out well and taste good. Being able stow the powerful cable makes it simple to find a nice storage spot for this unit when not in use. I spray the surface with cooking oil and the waffles release without any trouble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Increíble calidad y facilidad de uso.
Verified PurchaseCompre este aparato en alrededor de $700 MXN y vale la pena cada peso, es bastante fácil de limpiar y a diferencia de otros más pequeños y baratos, no se tira para nada la mezcla de waffles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this waffle Maker
Verified PurchaseI love this waffle maker, I love that I can remove the plates for easy cleaning, I just use my dish soap and a dish brush to clean the grooves. I don't just use it for waffles, I have made omelets, hamburgers, I can fit 3 nice size burgers, the size you buy frozen at Costco, I cook them frozen from the freezer, everything I have cooked, cooks faster than in a griddle or a pan, no flipping the burgers, hotdogs, grilled cheese sandwich, boneless chicken thighs and breasts, I'm sure there are other foods to be able to cook on this griddle and of course waffles they come out great with easy removal no sticking to the griddle, the lights that indicate when the griddle is hot to pour the batter and there is also a sound to indicate when done, I have had this for only a couple of weeks, and have use it for everything I have mentioned and has been easy clean up. I do recommend this product
