- Reviewed in Canada on October 18, 2024I recently picked up the Shave Ice Attachment for my KitchenAid stand mixer, and I have to say, it's been a fun addition to our summer treat lineup! As a busy mom of three, convenience is key, and this little gadget definitely delivers. It鈥檚 straightforward to use: just pop some pre-frozen ice blocks (made from the included molds) into the attachment, and in about a minute, you鈥檝e got a bowl full of fluffy, snow-like ice shavings.
We鈥檝e been experimenting with different flavors and syrups, which the kids absolutely love. The only thing to keep in mind is that you need to plan ahead since you can鈥檛 just toss in regular ice cubes鈥攜ou鈥檝e got to freeze your own. The first time I used it, I didn鈥檛 have any ice blocks ready, which led to some disappointed little faces. But once we got the hang of it, it鈥檚 been a breeze!
One downside I've noticed is that it leaves a little disc of ice at the end, which I kind of wish it could shave all the way through. Also, while it鈥檚 generally sturdy, I鈥檝e started to see a bit of wear on the blade after a handful of uses. However, it still produces great ice shavings, so I鈥檓 not too worried about it yet.
Overall, if you鈥檙e looking for a way to make homemade slushies or shaved ice treats this summer, this attachment is worth considering!
