  I got this so I could start ripping my Blurays for a PLEX media server. After installing on computer I was able to immediately rip Bluray discs with MakeMKV without issue. I saw some comments in the reviews about not updating firmware. I did not use the disc that came with the device, just plug and play.
  
  Optical drive has a blue led light that strobes when disc is inserted and being read.
