This was especially worth it for me, since back in the day I had a PS2 rather than a GameCube, and never really got a chance to play Wind Waker (which I'm absolutely loving in HD). Overall, it just seemed to be the right time: The Wii U has some decent titles out already, and a pretty promising lineup for 2014, including Watchdogs at the end of the year. Plus I have company over a lot, and Nintendos are a blast for parties. The gamepad is also infinitely better than those godawful Wii remotes, and its universal remote function has my old TV remote gathering dust. The internet speed leaves a little to be desired, but I bought it to play games, not watch YouTube or Netflix.
If you're a fan of the Nintendo and Zelda franchises, then I'd say this is well worth the money.
