- Reviewed in Canada on November 27, 2024I'm not a coffee snob but I enjoy a good cuppa and my morning routine includes what I call a cappalateccino. I had been using a Breville machine before this one, and this is a huge upgrade. It has a generous water tank, I only keep it 1/4 full and that's enough to make several days worth of coffees for me. The heat up time is also great, it goes from power on to 198°F in 29 seconds. It has a feature that "primes" the portafilter by gently pulsing water into it for the first second or two, allowing all of the grounds to soak evenly before water is forced though. The machine then runs an automatic cycle for either a single or double shot and beeps at you when it's complete, which takes about 45 seconds for a double shot. I'm really happy with the quality of the shot, as well. It has a nice rich crema and great taste. I can't comment on the milk frother at all, as I use a separate milk frothing jug and just can't bring myself to go back to the hassle of the steam wand other than to say that it does produce steam (the machine heats further, up to about 266°F for this, according to the display) and is easily controlled by the rotary knob and manipulated by the silicon tab on the wand. Overall, I'm really happy with both the appearance and function of this machine. I'll update my review as I get more use out of it, should I encounter anything that warrants it.
