The type and length of screws were sufficient to affix both the latch and the strike to the rail and post. The only drawback was the thumb latch itself is a little short and could have been an inch longer. This was only because of the nature of my build where it had to extend through the picture frame 1 X 4, the fence board itself and the 2 X 4 rail. It barely sits on the horizontal part of the latch before it plunges off into the angled part. I am sure most people would not need a longer thumb latch for conventional gates but this did cause concern before installation as to whether it would work or not. The instructions are very good. I have an in-swing gate so I was pleased they had instructions with illustrations for both in-swing and out-swing gates. Overall, excellent quality and I would recommend this product.
