The gate latch works as it should, very easy to install, however, it could be improved, as you can see from the last 2 pictures, I added the heat shrunk tube at the lever as stopper to prevent the lever slide out and drop from the other side, also after few tries, I added the spring(doesn’t come with it) as it is shown in the last picture, it makes the latch more smooth and more precisely complete to hold into the lock position. Anyway, it worked without the spring, but lever reacts better with the added spring.

I bought this because, by sliding the latch bar forward, you can lock the gate on one side.
It was a bit fiddly to mount. The lever, that protrudes through the rear side of the gate to allow you to unlatch it from the outside must be fitted in the correct order.
The handle plate that the lever passes through must be assembled with the lever before attaching the plate to the gate panel. That is because the lever has to be rotated 90 degrees, so it’s on its side, pushed through the hole in the handle plate, and then rotated back to the operating orientation. That is so it is retained by the plate, once the plate is screwed to the gate panel. If you don’t do this, but insert the lever after mounting the handle plate to the gate panel, it won’t be restrained.
I’ve seen other reviews be critical of the lever retention, but is only because they didn’t install it correctly.
Follow the included instructions, they’re not that clear, but are important.
Having said all that, I find the actual mechanism a little lacking. It feels flimsy and doesn’t always catch on closing. Furthermore the locking mechanism is difficult to engage and disengage. I cannot give it five stars; it’s adequate, not excellent.
