Picked this up to read some ABS codes on a 2010 Suzuki. Scanner was able to communicate with the ECM through OBD2 protocol. as well, was able to communicate with the ABS/traction control module and view/clear codes as well as view real time data. Tested with a 2008 VW. Scanner was able to communicate with ECM, ABS, and transmission modules, but could not access HVAC module in it's delivered configuration. Suspect this could be overcome with some of the subscription products available on the device. I intend to use this device to place Subaru electronic parking brake into service mode as well, but have not had the opportunity yet. Can update review at a later date. UPDATE: this successfully communicates with electronic parking brake and is capable of putting it in service mode and then back into normal mode. The next scan tool I have that is able to accomplish this is more than double the price. Things to be aware of: at first startup, the device took a while to successfully log in. In. Which prevented me from running updates for the first half hour. After the device was activated, the updates took an additional hour to download and install. There was over 50 updates available at the time of delivery. Additionally, although this device can perform many tasks that are usually associated with a much more expensive scan tool; It operates much slower than my higher end snap-on Solus pro scan tool. I found it very difficult to have patience for how slow it communicated. This is more of a DIY product, It would be too slow for use in a professional environment. However, it's still deserving of five stars at this price point.

This review is for the LAUNCH OBD2 Scanner CRP123X V2.0 Elite, 2025. The scanner arived in a colourful cardboard box. Inside was a zippered storage case which included the scanner, the OBD2 cable, a USB charge cable and an instruction booklet. I charged it up before trying it out. Once turning it on, there were about 35 updates to do which took 20-30 minutes. There is a long list of car manufacturers to choose from which are covered anf include models up to 2025. The brains of the unit is an android 8.1 computer with a touch sensitive screen and it is powered by an internal 6100 mah battery. There are also buttons you can use instead of the touch screen. Extenally along the top is a power button, a USB charging jack, and a 15 pin serial connector to hook up the OBD2 cable. There is a plastic bumper installed around the periphery to help protect the unit from abuse. You can do a basic diagnosis on a number of cars from North America, Europe and Asia. Also included are 7 additional functions that can be performed on all of these cars, if they have these features. For instance, a D-P-F regeneration can only be done on a diesel powered car. The 6 other included features are oil reset, ABS brake bleeding, BMS reset, brake reset, throttle reset, and SAS reset. If you want full featured service ability, you can purchase that for the desired make for about $66 cdn. per manufacturer. This additional feature set are downloaded into the scanner, and they will be active for 1 year, at which time they are deactivated. All the basic features and the 7 additional resets will be active for the life of the scanner. All the upgrade purchasing can be done right on the CRP123X by going into the "Mall" tab. Connectivity for updates and addons are done through it's built in 2.4 ghz wifi. 5.0 ghz wifi is NOT available. I was able to connect to our 2009 Toyota Corolla and my 2018 Chevrolet Volt with no problems. I like that I was able to get a lot of detail about my HV battery in my Volt, something I was unable to do with my OBD2 dongle that connects to my phone. Diagnostic reports can be saved and shared via email which is great if you need to forward the codes to your mechanic. Another thing I noticed was the speed of the reading of the codes. It was much faster than my phone based scanner. I turned on auto identification of the vehicle, and as soon as the scanner was connected to the vehicle, it started reading the VIN and quickly identified the model of car and year as well as the VIN. I had an issue installing a couple of files, so I emailed customer service. They responded the same day and provided a solution. All in all, I am very pleased with the performance of this unit. There are features it can't do, but for reading and clearing codes, as well as providing some additional service modes, it did a good job. If more features are required, it is upgradeable. Launch has a number of code scanners, so if this one won't suit your needs as in some professional applications,, some of their more advanced (and expensive) units might be a better fit. Before purchasing, you might want to ask Launch if this scanner will do what you need to do.

This is my first automotive computer scanning tool that let me scan to see and control setting or to keep an eye on my Toyota. It took me some time to update the firmware on the scanner and once that's done, I was able to input the information about my car. I am not a mechanic but I am able to see so many things that this scanner can reset, but I just needed to monitor hybrid and engine issues I have been having for a while and to be able to let my mechanic know my findings. Hoping the diagnosis will help me repair my car.
I showed this OBD2 Scanner to my Toyota mechanic and he was quite impressed with the features on this unit that is capable of doing more than some of the diagnostic scanners they have at the shop. He also is teaching me more of the features to better understand how to set it up to keep monitoring my car.
This is a full feature diagnostic scanner that is able to scan most common vehicles on the road today. When I look at other scanners and compare what this unit can do, this is an excellent value.
