- Reviewed in Canada on April 18, 2025Picked this up to read some ABS codes on a 2010 Suzuki. Scanner was able to communicate with the ECM through OBD2 protocol. as well, was able to communicate with the ABS/traction control module and view/clear codes as well as view real time data.
Tested with a 2008 VW. Scanner was able to communicate with ECM, ABS, and transmission modules, but could not access HVAC module in it's delivered configuration. Suspect this could be overcome with some of the subscription products available on the device.
I intend to use this device to place Subaru electronic parking brake into service mode as well, but have not had the opportunity yet. Can update review at a later date. UPDATE: this successfully communicates with electronic parking brake and is capable of putting it in service mode and then back into normal mode. The next scan tool I have that is able to accomplish this is more than double the price.
Things to be aware of: at first startup, the device took a while to successfully log in. In. Which prevented me from running updates for the first half hour. After the device was activated, the updates took an additional hour to download and install. There was over 50 updates available at the time of delivery.
Additionally, although this device can perform many tasks that are usually associated with a much more expensive scan tool; It operates much slower than my higher end snap-on Solus pro scan tool. I found it very difficult to have patience for how slow it communicated. This is more of a DIY product, It would be too slow for use in a professional environment. However, it's still deserving of five stars at this price point.
