This was a lot of fun to do even as an adult. My daughter and I sat down and played with this doing the experiments together over the course of a few hours, enjoying our time together. All of the components are water soluble and water is the number one ingredient in all of these. The different slimes and textures are a lot of fun and the quality if you follow the instructions correctly is very high. The colours are good and did not stain and cleanup was a cinch with a wet cloth. Definitely recommend this kit as a family or child only activity. Lots of fun and experiments in a box.

My niece loves doing art projects. It's a great way to spend time together and do something productive.
My nephew is harder to please. Art isn't really his thing, but this kit really inspired him.
Even my niece got into it.
The instructions are easy to follow and there's lots of fun little experiments that are just as much fun as they are educational.
The experiments are supposed to be of the "gross" variety and they definitely appeal to an 11 year old boy.

This National Geographic kit has provided many chemistry lessons and activities for my kids. It’s rated for ages 12+ and to do it independently that’s still a bit high. Most 10yr old could follow and do this. I even got my toddlers involved with much guidance. The experiments do not take long to complete which is nice.
All items needed are included with the exception of water, scissors and household staples.
While none of our results looked anything like the box or pictures they were still fun and gave the idea of the results.
My kids particularly liked the boiled boogers which is essentially runny slime. The bursting blood cells were also satisfying and fun.
Some of the items are a bit cheap absolutely melting in the microwave but we were still able to make all of them work with items/bowls from the house. Id recommend this for any science/chemistry loving kid.

This science experiment kit really is super gross, and in this case that’s a really good thing. Vomit, blood, boogers, creepy eyeballs this kit has it all…absolutely perfect for a lot of kids and definitely for my 7-year-old son.

Older kids wouldn’t have any issues with doing these experiments independently, but my 7-year-old scientist did require an assistant for a few of these so far. Which has made this a really great kit for bonding as a family as well.

The kit includes everything required for the experiments, including a very well detailed instruction book with proper explanations. This one is an attention getter and it does a really great job at keeping my son entertained. And the nice thing is that the experiments are detailed enough, and there’s enough of them, that this entire kit isn’t something completed in just one night.

All of the National Geographic kits tend to be great, but this one really stands out above and beyond. It’s different while still being educational. And it’s definitely gross. An absolute winner in this household, and I would definitely recommend.

Got this for my grandson and I am sure that he will enjoy it.

The concept behind this, making 'boring' science 'gross' is something that more educators should adopt.

It ALWAYS works at gaining a young'uns interest.

A slight side trip . . . I like many a parent, always wanted my children to eat a relatively healthy diet. Never forced it, as that always backfires (whether with a child, or an adult). One day my step-daughter made a comment about something I had made for dinner, . . . called it 'bizarre' . . . and the bells and whistles went off. Hard to get a child to eat a healthy soup like cream of brocolli, or a leek, sausage, veggie mix . . . but when you refer to them as "snotto sublimo" (cream of brocolli), or "septic tank slop" (leek and veggies) . . .two reactions . . . the first is "eeeew, gross!", and the second is "more please!"

National Geographic has ensured that this will be well received with it's appropriate naming. Good marketing ploy.

There are a variety of different experiments, with a selection of needed tools and chemicals. None of them extremely dangerous, but as always, young ones should be supervised.

For a slightly more complete description of what is in the kit, one should head over to the 'thinkbluemarble" website . . . there, more will be revealed. (be aware that there are two sizes of the same kit)

The box is colourful and certain to grab their attention. The price is very good for such a wonderful learning experience.

I requested this experiment kit for my boys -- ages 6 and 8. It arrived within 2 days of being ordered and was in giftable condition. We have done other National Geographic kits (fossil dig, growing crystals) and enjoyed them however, this science one is the most elaborate one yet.

The kit consists of a variety of experiments, most of them very hands-on and "gross" -- perfect for getting kids excited. We have only done two of the activities so far, and they boys have loved it. They need adult supervision, mainly for keeping the mess minimal and following the instructions accurately. Everything seems to be included and the kit is well made.

I would recommend this product for children 10 and up if you hope they can work on the experiments independently. Otherwise, it's still good for younger kids with help from adults. Would make a great gift for any occasion!
