My desktop came with a 1Gb card and unfortunately I could never get the speeds I was paying for. I decided to give this card a try and it's perfect. Once I installed the card in my tower, my PC automatically recognized it (check Device Manager under Network adapters). However, when I checked its Properties under Advanced (via Device Manager), I noticed that the max speed was 2.5Gb. Thus I thought to myself that there had to be a way to get the full 5Gb and immediately decided to update the driver by downloading it from Realtek's website: The card has a Realtek RTL8126 chip. Once I downloaded the latest driver for Windows 11 (I suggest choosing Win11 Auto Installation Program (NetAdapterCx)), I proceeded to install it and voilà! I re-checked the Properties (Advanced, via Device Manager) and there it was under both EEE Max Support Speed and Speed & Duplex. If by chance it shows another speed under Speed & Duplex, simply choose 5.0 Gbps Full Duplex. Then I proceeded to re-start my computer (I always suggest this with updating or installing something new), re-checked everything again and FINALLY got the speeds I was paying for and offered to me by my ISP (I have cable internet, others with FTTH will have symmetrical speeds).
*NOTE: if like me you have a modem/router with a 2.5Gb (or higher) port, you HAVE to plug your Ethernet cable in that port to get full speeds. I also have to add that the only way you will get anything close to 5Gb is depending on what you pay for. If you pay for 1.5G internet, for example, you will only get that much. Also, if your modem or router doesn't support higher speeds, you can always buy a Ethernet Switch with those capabilities (Brostrend makes a great switch).
