  • The red dot of the laser is not where the temperature is being taken. The actual surface being measured is about 2 cm below the pointer.

  • Some common errors that deter the accuracy of your temp gun reading include: failure to compensate for the shiny objects that have low emissivity capacity, either get too close or too far from the object, dirt on the lens, interference steam and dust

  • Infrared thermometers and laser thermometers are the same thing there is no difference between the two

    I have used this thermometer gun for general temperature testing but more specifically for testing the temperature of must (wine) fermentation in 45 gallon drums. It agreed closely with a floating thermometer that I had been using.
    However, I dropped it from my pocket and, unfortunately, it no longer works.
    It seems to be a very fragile instrument and I would recommend being very careful while using it.
    Not sure if I will order another one.
    UPDATE: After messing with it for a while it now works!!!
