NEW FAVOURITE CAMERA BAG

- Reviewed in Canada on May 10, 2019Verified PurchaseI was worrier about having to replace my trusty old Lowepro bag that has a side pocket that you access your camera through. That was an absolute requirement for me. Plus I needed to carry my 15 inch Chromebook with it, which I couldn't do with my old bag.
Yes, my new Tarion bag carries my 15 inch Chromebook with ease! There is a pocket inside accessed through the top where it slides right in. Don't worry about the zipper concern that others posted, because that is not where you insert the laptop at all! It goes in through the top. It fits perfectly and it's not awkward at all.
The side pocket works beautifully. The zippers are much better than my old bag. It zips around the corner silky smooth.
I'm actually on a trip right now traveling with it. This, bag, is, awesome, full stop. Don't worry about any concerns for a split second. Get it!
- Reviewed in Canada on January 26, 2020Verified PurchaseI needed this bag for a trip, and it worked out very well overall. The space for the camera is large enough to fit a good amount of equipment, the bag construction is very good, and even when it was full, it felt comfortable.
If I had a small complaint it's that I wish the top portion, which is a big space, had small pockets in it or something so I could put pens in there or to organize things. On the bright side, the space can fit a lot in it, but it's just not possible to organize it without your own organizer inside it.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 24, 2024Verified PurchaseWhile I am a "travel light" photographer, my ThinkTank shoulder bag was putting too much stress on my neck and should area when carrying my gear for long periods. I wanted a smallish backpack to better spread the weight. After a lot of research I came upon this Tarion backpack on sale, and while I wasn't very familiar with the brand it seemed to have most of the features I was looking for.
I've now had this bag for about 3 weeks. While it's described as only a 17L bag, it easily holds everything I typically carried in the ThinkTank shoulder bag (Fuji X-S10 with Tamron 18-300 attached; Fuji 10-34; flash, batteries, mini-tripod; lens filters; assorted small gear) -- and more. It has back access to all gear, plus side access to the camera. The padded shoulder straps are quite comfortable, and the cross halter is useful for keeping the bag positioned properly on the back when bending and turning. The bag is also padded on the side facing your back, which is also the side the opens to the gear for more security.
I like the extra pouch for personal items under the cover flap (which itself has a zippered pouch for smaller items.) My regular sized tripod will stand in the mesh pouch on one side and secured with a clipped strap. I haven't had occasion to check whether the bag is truly waterproof, but the included rain cover increases my confidence everything will remain dry on our upcoming trip to Newfoundland.
The only feature I would have liked to see would be the ability to convert to a sling bag, but I understand that this would likely make the rear-facing gear compartment opening impractical.
So, I am very happy with this Tarion bag so far, and given the apparent build quality, I expect to be satisfied in the longer run as well.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 18, 2023Verified PurchaseI need a compact camera bag with a side pocket for my mirrorless camera whilst riding my bike for shooting and this bag is a perfect fit for my need. It¡¯s nice and comfortable too.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 11, 2020Verified Purchaseas professional photographer and this backpack is perfect for me! I photograph alot of couples in the mountains and I can bring all the gear I need and shoot hours with it on my back without feeling it. It's light and stylish and now all my friends have it too! Amazing quality and value! I love the pockets on it!
- Reviewed in Canada on January 30, 2021Verified PurchaseGreat camera backpack! I¡¯ve had this backpack for 6 months now and it still looks new! It holds my camera and 4 lenses with room to spare. Lots of extra pockets for storage space. The upper drawstring pocket holds a lot more than it looks like it could. Easy and comfortable to walk/hike with.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 3, 2019Verified PurchaseThis is a great bag for the price, my camera and equipment feels secure and fits comfortably in the bag along with my other things I¡¯m carrying around. I¡¯m using this bag as a photography student, so this bag carries my camera, lenses and other various equipment, my textbooks, laptop(MacBook Air) and other miscellaneous items. This bag handles everything well, is so far holding the weight of everything well and is showing no signs of wear. It¡¯s a comfortable bag to carry around all day as well. I love it, no big complaints at all. I wish there was a little bit more room at the top of the bag to accommodate for larger books, but that is in no way a deal breaker.
This bag is definitely worth it - if you¡¯re hesitating, don¡¯t.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 18, 2022Verified PurchaseIt is lighter weight and more stylish than my prior case. It has space to carry my wallet¡¯. It is great for hiking. It holds my tripod securely also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robust and stylish camera bag
Verified PurchaseI bought this bag as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves it, there are a lot of small pockets inside and the camera is well protected. The leather part does not look cheap. Really stylish bag, looks more expensive that it is, so great value for money.
It includes a waterproof rain cover that you can add for extra protection when it rains, so you're sure your camera is not wet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique, functional pack designed for photography
Verified PurchaseThis is a pretty functional camera bag, with lots of thoughtful design elements. The style is retro, but the unique layout of the pack and access to its compartments really set this bag apart from others I've used.
The pack is designed specifically as a dedicated camera bag, with padding throughout. The main body of the pack is divided into two compartments, one on top and one on the bottom. You access the top compartment by unsnapping the imitation-leather top flap and opening a drawstring closure, to reveal a fairly roomy, single compartment. The bottom half is accessed through a padded, zippered panel that rides against your lower back when you're wearing the pack. This compartment has a series of padded dividers held in place by Velcro-style strips, and is intended to provide spaces for a camera, lenses, batteries, and other such accessories. The camera space is also accessible through a second zippered panel in the side of the pack (to the wearer's left). This unique arrangement is actually pretty handy for securing your photography gear. I've uploaded a few photos to show how the pack is laid out, with these various compartments and openings. I can just manage to unzip the side panel and get my camera out without taking the pack off, but it isn't a very smooth or quick maneuver. Putting the camera back into that side compartment is a bit more difficult, so I usually just take the pack off when I want to put my camera away.
There is a padded sleeve for a laptop computer that is accessible through the top compartment. Your computer rides on the outside of the pack's two main compartments, rather than against your back like most day packs are designed. This arrangement may expose your laptop to more potential abuse than if it were tucked in deeper, next to your back. This pack is clearly designed to prioritize protection of photography gear, rather than your computer. It works. Just be aware that your computer is out there, if you choose to carry it in this pack. You certainly would want to avoid rough handling to the extent that you can.
The suspension system includes nicely designed, padded shoulder straps and a sternum strap to keep it square on your chest.
There's a useful, flat zippered pouch on the outside of the pack that seems to be meant for paperwork or a slim book or two. Anything you put in this pouch could provide additional protection for your laptop.
There is a mesh pocket and adjustable strap on the wearer's right side that is intended to hold a tripod. I find it useful for that.
The top flap is a bit of a puzzle to me. It is a squarish, double-layered affair of cheap-feeling, imitation leather. It is secured by quick-release buckles on the two lower corners, and there is a zipper on the side that closes a relatively small pocket within the top flap. I'm not sure why the zipper doesn't allow access to the full interior of the top flap. That would provide substantial additional storage space that is essentially wasted as it is currently configured.
The top flap only marginally seals the top compartment from the elements. Wind and water can easily get under the flap because it isn't really cut or contoured to effectively seal the top of the pack. Instead, the pack acheives its "weather resistant" claim through use of a separate rain cover that resembles a big, coated nylon shower cap with an elastic band around its perimeter. Again, it works but you have to carry the accessory along for it to be of any use when you need it. I'd greatly prefer a bag that uses waterproof fabric and zippers, a top that can be rolled and snapped shut to exclude water, and a contoured top flap that can be cinched down to seal out crappy weather or splashes. This is a perfectly capable camera bag for lots of fair-weather work, but it really doesn't look like the best choice for water-based adventures where you know that you'll be getting wet.
I find the pack really suitable for carrying all the camera gear I need for a day's shooting, with room for some snacks or a light lunch and perhaps an extra layer of clothing. I like the pack and I'm glad that I got it. For now, I've taken to storing my camera and many of its accessories in this pack, so it's all ready to go at a moment's notice. It's really pretty convenient.
