Excellent practical knife

Excellent practical knife
I bought this knife to replace my Wenger Ranger clip 51. I was reluctant to buy it because I liked my old knife so much and it didn't have a clip, but because my old knife was discontinued I didn't have a choice. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this knife. I have had it in my pocket every day now for a couple of weeks and it is extremely useful and well made. I am a farmer and very hard on my knife. It's always covered in dirt and being misused. I use it for scraping and prying as much as cutting. I added a Swiss Bianco pocket clip and it's perfect. It's easy to open with one hand and the saw is nice too. The lock on the bottle opener is great too. I don't think you could find a more practical well made knife. I’ve now had it for three years. It’s been in my pocket every day and I still really like it. It’s very durable. It’s still tight and opens easily.

Swiss Army knifes never disappoint. My other one I've had for years and it looks new.
I can expect this one will last the rest of my life. It's an investment.
This German Army issue style is very nice.

-Long, partially serrated blade, with 2/3 of the blade being serrated
-Extremely sharp, like you have to be so careful because this thing is razor sharp.
-I really like the Phillips screwdriver. Very practical, as there's countless amount of times when I've needed a screwdriver but didn't have one.
-It's minimalist compared to some other Swiss Army knives with tons of features. This is more of an army style with the basics. The focus is definitely on the long blade.
-There are no tweezers or toothpicks like other models, no scissors either.
-One handed opening is nice bonus.
-Long double-sided saw, has teeth on both ends.

If you want a true multitool with lots of features, this model isn't for you.
However, if you want a simplistic, high quality knife with additional features, such as bottle opener, screwdriver, saw, that is trusted by the German Army, then you simply could not go wrong with this knife.

I truly do expect this to last a lifetime.
I love this. It isn't exactly cheap, I paid $90 for it. However, this is an investment which will last year after year. These things are made to last.

Note that this is a larger knife, it takes up a decent amount of space in your pocket and has some bulk to it. Check the dimensions to make sure it's suitable for your needs before buying.

For me, this knife is the perfect answer to the question, how many tools do you really need in a pocket utility knife? The main blade is sharp, long, and easy to open and close with one hand. It also has Phillips and flat head screwdrivers, a bottle opener, a can opener, and a nice saw blade. Everything I need without being too bulky. This is my second one; I used my previous one almost daily for all kinds of everyday chores.

As for why I had to get a new one, well, interesting story: I was traveling in Scotland, trusty travel companion in my pocket, when I had to go through a security check to enter a building. Knowing that I would get stopped anyway for the knife, I took it out and asked the security guard if there was anywhere I could store it while I toured the facility. He nonchalantly referred me to the police officer on duty who gave me a steely look and asked, “Where are you from? Do you realize that having a knife like this in your possession is a felony in the UK?” Long story short, I was not arrested, but I did have my knife confiscated. Lesson learned. Be careful of local laws if you take this knife traveling with you.

Only complaint is in the Q&A there was reference to a pocket clip but there is no clip on the knife. I understand there are some aftermarket ones available for Swiss Army knives that I will look into.

Well, this is Victorinox - knife feels slightly on heavier side (3 layers), compared to Nomad/Picnicker (2 layers). Very solid sturdy feeling, all blades open with solid click. Blade and bottle opener/large flat head screwdriver have secure liner lock. The blade has just slightly noticeable play vertically, which is common for Trekkers/Nomads, according to owners reviews, but no play from side to side - everything is solid. Blade are slightly stiff to open, but it will be OK with time. I own the Nomad (without a saw and with corkscrew instead of Phillips head) for about 20 years - it is very solid, very high quality and robust knife! Highly recommend because of its classy look, functionality and reliability. It's 111 mm long 3 layer knife, so you'd need a pouch to carry it, 'cause in my opinion, it's a bit too big to carry in the pocket.

This model has a Phillips screwdriver instead of the corkscrew.
The blade is surgical sharp and the locking mechanism gives a good solid lock. No blades closing on the fingers with this one.
    A quality knife.
Looking at another one for my bush backpack.

Good quality knife my only issue is that I thought the blade would be easier to open with one hand.
