- Reviewed in Canada on October 22, 2024Verified PurchaseMy vanEE 90H HRV motor died after 22 years. I decided to try find a replacement motor and do it myself. After some research on the model and specs, I found this Rotom motor. Thanks to the reviews on it, I felt confident it was the right one. The shaft length was identical to the old one and all mounting screw holes lined up perfectly. As mentioned in other reviews, the wires don’t come with connectors specific to the model of HRV, but that’s understandable, so make sure you have a way of splicing the wires, whether crimp splicers or solder. The wire colouring was identical to my old motor, so that made the job easy. I did a test by hooking up the motor before installing to ensure it worked. I also noticed that some reviewers said they didn’t receive a capacitor with their motor, but that was not the case for me. I did get a capacitor with mine. I didn’t actually use it, but will be keeping it as a back up since the original was still fine. This job, from start to finish, including cleaning of the HRV interior, disassembling the housing and removing the motor, re-installing the new one, is about a 3 hour job.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 16, 2024Verified PurchaseHighly recommended. I repaired my 18 year old HRV system for about $300 with tax vs a full fan assembly replacement ($650+) or a new HRV ($3000 installed). Note that when I turned on the repaired HRV it had a slight vibration. Puzzled, I took it out the fan assembly, loosened and re-tighted the fans on the shaft, tried again and no luck. I went to bed thinking perhaps that the shaft was out of balance. I tried the same procedure again a few days later and voila, the vibration was gone. Note also that I used the capacitor supplied and mounted it sideways so it would fit in the fan housing.

- Reviewed in Canada on November 2, 2024Verified PurchaseI had to find and book multiple electricians to come switch over the wires, as the product does not arrive ready for install. Then I had to hire HVAC specialists to install the unit into my air exchanger. All this took over 60 days because of where I live and availability of technicians.
Unit only hums and overheats. Obviously defective. Seller has not contacted me back and now I've spent well over $1k on this useless unit and getting others to install it only to be told 'I'm past the 30 days' and contact the seller. I did. No response. Do not recommend, very disappointed with this entire experience and product.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 22, 2025Verified PurchasePerfect fit for my Venmar Constructor.
- Reviewed in Canada on November 13, 2024Verified PurchaseThe motor arrived very quickly and worked very well however there was no capacitor included in the package. After reading various reviews it appears that sometimes a capacitor is included and sometimes not. It needs to be made clear in the item description whether or not a capacitor is included as the current description is very misleading in that a capacitor is shown in the photos. The repair (motor replacement on a Venmar air exchanger) was therefore not done as timely as hoped or expected because a new capacitor had to be purchased first.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 20, 2023Verified PurchaseI was a bit skeptical at first due to the part codes are all different, but previous reviews reassured me to make the purchase, thx guys. Having to splice the old connector to the new motor is a little inconvenience, but it was straightforward as the wire color scheme matched the stock one. It seems expensive for a small motor of this size but it's the only available in amazon site. The inconvenience of splicing the connector and the expensive price are the reason for the 4 stars rating.
The new motor runs quietly and powerfully moves the air with little vibration. Time will tell how long it will last. Another 20 years ? :)
Unfortunately I didn't record the video but the process of replacement is quite straightforward. You first need to disconnect the 2 connectors, remove the whole blower assembly off the housing, then proceed next to remove the lower side cap before removing the 2 propellers as this is the hardest part of the process. Apply some WD40 or rust penetrant on both ends of the motor shaft to help free up the propellers. Make sure you properly support the motor before attempting to remove the stucked propellers to avoid deforming their shapes. I used the 10 -12mm sockets to support on one end while tap it on the opposite end. Also make sure to match the wire color code as not doing so could fry the motor or motor could run slower than it should. The new motor comes with a bigger start capacitor, which you may need to mount it 90 degree wrt the original position. Good luck to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits VENMAR HRV CONSTRUCTO 1.5 Air Exchanger
Verified PurchaseShipping was fast. I ordered it on a Saturday afternoon and it was delivered by Monday at 4 p.m.. Had it installed by about 8 p.m. Monday night.
Here's my public service announcement:
A local company had a $60 special for a furnace tune up/inspection. The technician noticed my air exchanger wasn't working. He told me Venmar was purchased by Broan and that there were no longer parts available to fix my Venmar air exchanger. He quoted $1600 to replace the existing unit. I decided to fact check that.
The truth is Venmar was purchased by Broan-NuTone in 1995 and through at least the time when my home was built in late 2006, Broan-NuTone continued several air-exchange brands including Broan, NuTone, Best, vanEE, and Venmar. This replacement motor fits many brands and models!
This Rotom R2-R462 and included capacitor nearly directly replace the GE motor: 5KCP84DFK143BP and capacitor found in my Venmar HRV Constructo 1.5 air exchanger. The capacitor is a larger oval shape than the old capacitor and wouldn't fit in the existing space utilizing the OEM capacitor bracket. I just used some zip ties and mounted it flat onto the motor. -see the picture
The Rotom motor is quite and does it's job, time will tell how long it will last.
It took me about five minutes to wrangle tools and then about five additional minutes to remove the black plastic box/blower motor assembly out of the air exchanger body.
After the unit was out on the ground it took another 20 minutes to disassemble.
Once the new motor came it took about 15 minutes to remove the wiring harness and capacitor mount from the old motor then splice the old wiring harness onto the new motor. From there it took about 45 minutes to reassemble the blower box assembly and figure out how the capacitor could be mounted. Part of that 45 minutes (maybe 10 minutes) was spent cleaning the crud/dust/dirt off the old blower cages, black box parts, and inside the air exchanger body. Lastly, it took maybe 10 minutes to put the black plastic box/blower motor assembly back into the air exchanger body. It's not "easy" but it can be done by one that is in possession of tools and some electrical and mechanical knowledge, skills, and ability.
My advice would be to take a picture or two or maybe a video of each step when disassembling the unit. You might need a total of two hours to complete this project. I could tell the bearings in the old motor were shot when the shaft would slide back and forth about 3/8" of an inch.
I also bought some new filters SV02300 for the unit. -see picture
Good luck with your repair! You can do it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exact fit for ERV100HC with Fasco 7190-1359 02101 motor
Verified PurchaseExact replacement for a Fasco 7190-1359 02101 motor on a Broan ERV100HC, which the blower assembly was discontinued in 2016. Just have to dissassemble the fan unit, and then reverse the process.
You'll need to splice the old motor harness connector onto the wires. For this specific ERV, you'll need some thermal transfer grease for the heat sink, and some single sided 1/8" thick foam tape to dampen/isolate the assembly.
Remove the squirrel cage fans with a 1/8" long tee-handled hex wrench, through the blower opening. Rotate the fan to find the hole that aligns with the fan set screw. You may also need some penetrating oil to help break the fan free of the shaft which has probably corroded a little. It may also help to use some 320 grit sandpaper to remove rust/polish the shaft before removing the old fan.
$800+ for a replacement blower assembly... $1000+ for a replacement ERV. Less than $200 and a little elbow grease for this motor, the tape and the grease. No brainer. Saved a lot of money, and only took about 2 hours total.
