This is one magnificent CNC machine that's built to last.
Having had some CNC carving experience with a small tabletop CNC machine before but nothing like this.
The build quality is second to none.
Everything is built out of heavy duty aluminum especially the base frameset. Extruded aluminum bars and t-slots makes this a solid sturdy base.
Each section is conveniently labelled for ease of installation and assembly. And each t-slot section has integrated MDF slats for the spoilboard.
: hint/trick on how to save the spoilboard = place 1/4" hardboard panel slats under the workpiece, that way if needing to carve through, spoilboard doesn't get carved up where it has to be replaced.
It's important to note that the footprint of this CNC machine is just shy of approx 4 feet by 4 feet. With this said, a just-as very sturdy table will be required. If deciding this Genmitsu CNC machine is for you then think ahead about space.
My plan is to first make a heavy duty table on castors that can be flipped vertically for storage including mounting the control box sideways with some cable management.
With a two car garage, where there's only one car ever in it, this workshop is space-limited.
No doubt this Genmitsu CNC is going to be the main focal point and workhorse in my shop.
If design and maybe generating some income is what you desire then this is a great CNC machine for that purpose.
The included owners manual and set-up guide is probably one of the best I have ever seen. Full colour instructions for assembly with a very detailed step by step guide.
All the necessary hardware is included with some wrenches and hex keys.
One thing I have to mention is I was very surprised this kit came with the dust shoe as I thought that would have been an accessory I'd have to buy afterwards.
T-slot clamps, zero out probe, wifi module, 1/8" and 1/4" collets, controller box and stepper motors.
This kit even comes with an assortment of 1/4 and 1.8 shank carving bits. There really isnt anything extra needing to buy to get carving my first project
The X-axis fence and both left and right Y-axis guides all come pre-assembled which is great. Easy to just line them up to the base and bolt them in. Same with the main X-axis fence which already has the drag chains assembled.
The installation of the three stepper motors and the 710W spindle was just as straightforward.
Lastly, the step by step guide to installing the Candle software was just as simple. Once installed and connected, there's a bit of a learning curve in getting familiar with the settings and metrics and navigation.
Overall extremely pleased with the Genmitsu CNC machine. Now just got to finish that vertical flip-table.
