Comparison of this Easy Home EHE012PRO TENS model with same brand EHE029G TENS/EMS model

Comparison of this Easy Home EHE012PRO TENS model with same brand EHE029G TENS/EMS model
I have both this Easy Home EHE012PRO and the Easy Home EHE029G models, and use them for different purposes. This one, the EHE012PRO, is better for arthritis relief, both in the sense of it being more soothing when I have an arthritis flare up and also not distracting from whatever else that I may be doing at the same time. I can use it while watching movies, long form documentaries, reading long documents and books, without finding it either aggravating or distracting. It's not that the one model is stronger than the other - both can be turned up in intensity to the point of being painful - but the pulse patterns are different between the more soothing, all TENS pulse patterns of this model and the more aggressive, mostly EMS pulse patterns of the other model. As you might expect given that EMS is more targeted toward athletic development and athletic/surgical recuperation. I wasn't expecting much from a TENS unit this small and low cost, as compared to the larger, and no doubt much more expensive units at physiotherapy clinics. But it is surprisingly effective, for me, for arthritis relief. But since the term arthritis covers a lot of territory, your mileage may differ. One quibble that I have with it is that I find that those programs on it that cycle through a variety of different pulse patterns, including a beat type of pulse in some programs, the beat pulse is disproportionately weak as compared to the strength of the other pulses within the same program. So if I want a beat pulse I have to set it on beat pulse only. The controls on this EHE012PRO model would probably be better suited for someone with mild cognitive impairment intending to operate it themselves. As compared to the other model, with its combination of both EMS and TENS functions, and all those function control options jammed into a much smaller area, which might well be confusing for some. The battery charge on this EHE012PRO model lasts several times as long, not surprising since it is overall larger than the other model, so probably has a larger battery. Caution: don't be the fiddling with things monkey that I am. On the back of the case of this model is what looks like a sliding battery access cover, as you might expect to find on a unit that has a user replaceable type of rechargeable battery. However, it took minutes of picking at it with a miniature screwdriver set to get it open, the first time, without risking snapping/breaking either the cover or the retainers attaching the cover to the plastic case. (Not difficult the second time when I opened it to photo it for this review.) Revealing an electronic circuit board with the battery tucked away behind it, inaccessible without removing the screws attaching the circuit board to the case. So at that point I just put it back together, because rechargeable batteries that are that much work to access are typically soldered/hard wired into the unit, not intended to be replaced. And say that you had the skills to desolder the original battery to replace it, you would want to be certain that you had the correct replacement or risk creating a fire or other safety hazard by soldering the wrong battery into it. The other, mostly EMS type pulse EHE029G model, that has more aggressive pulse patterns which, if you get the pad locations right, can be used to make specific muscles or muscle groups twitch, and is what I use when I have over exerted myself while exercising for recuperation from a combination of leg injury and orthopedic surgery. I find that it's more suited for that than for the arthritis soothing TENS purposes that I use this EHE012PRO unit for. But be careful about getting the pads of either unit too close to, or bracketing the electrical current across, implanted hardware. I got hit by some guy making a left turn without looking, have stainless pins in my tibula and a stainless wire cage around the upper half of my fibula. The one time that I got one of the pads too close to that wire cage, that felt both weird and bad. And there is a warning about that in the instruction manual.

Pros- helps with pain while in use, rarely causes shock feeling like some other tens machines, rechargeable.
Cons - buttons don't display in the dark, the four buttons for the various body parts seem unnecessary as they feel the same as the three modes.
Recommendations - removing these extra buttons. It would also make the machine smaller/more portable to use on the go. The sensation can be a bit superficial. Would be nice to add a mode that allows the sensation to be felt deeper in the skin for days of heavier pain.
