Ooze passionate, calm potential out of every pore

Tired of doing the same unhealthy routine every day? Been grieving for far too long? Are you open to replacing bad habits using invigorating mindfulness techniques?

Just a few daily gulpfuls of mindfulness is all it takes to help walk the talk to the beat of your own drum. Life hurls problems at you day in and day out; most of you spend much of your energy avoiding them using distractions, notably, alcohol.

This raw and uncovered book takes the reader down an experiential road of simple mindful practices, combined with incredible real-life accounts of substance abuse, coming out of the closet, and losing a parent--challenging times in the life of a millennial.

You have changed, consciously and unconsciously, based on the events of your life. You have had a loved one die of cancer; or worse yet, a parent die of cancer. You have come out of the closet, again and again. You have found yourself, after several attempts, once again under the influence of alcohol, with the smell of whisky and vomit on your breath. You’ve navigated it all.

And yet you still feel ungrounded, shakeable, weak. You feel blown around in a flurry of external obstacles that you’ve created to remind you of your internal problems. Uncontrolled.

A Drink Called Mindfulness challenges everything you’ve ever been told about recovery, grieving, resilience and mental health. It is the go-to guide for establishing self-awareness in an overwhelming world, all before you turn 30.

A Drink Called Mindfulness gives you an evidence-informed foundation for a mindfulness practice through:

  • 10+ of the simplest practices to get you in tune with your body and mind

  • Tools to greater self-compassion to share your caring, vivacious self with the world.

  • Access to the passionate fire burning within you, accessible whenever you need it, wherever life takes you.

  • Strength to easily handle the curveballs life throws your way and to communicate more effectively with those on your team.

  • First-hand accounts of how using foolproof mindfulness practices can help you through tough times (guiding you every step of the way).

Follow the advice in this book and pour yourself an overflowing cup of emotional health. Mindfulness not only increases self-confidence and well-being, it also helps you develop positive relationships with substances you’ve abused, loved ones you’ve lost, and the person that you can be. Incorporating these practices into your daily routine for just three weeks can transform you from zombie to zen. Of course, you’ll notice a difference from day one.

What’s stopping you from tapping into age-old wisdom? You deserve to live your truth. Finding your truth is passionately finding where you want to make a difference in the world.

Do you want to be your authentic self, unhindered by outside influences? Why keep putting off your purpose? This book offers you a way to become one of those people whose passion and potential oozes out of every pore, who emanates calm, persistent success.

You can be a heart-centered, empowered, enlightened human being whose contribution to humanity will impact the 21st century.

Erin Edwards’ “A Drink Called Mindfulness: How to go from Hot Mess to Self Aware Before 30” is a fresh take on some very ancient wisdom. Written as a personal and interactive self-help guide, it gives the reader practical and digestible access to mindfulness techniques that cross a range of modalities – herbalism, meditation, Reiki, Forest Bathing, mindful eating, body scans, hydrotherapy, and best practices for bedtime.

Edwards begins her work with a deep dive into the current millennial psyche – one which is totally exhausted; a generation that has fallen asleep to their true potential. Sleep is actually a very important theme in this book. Edwards carries the metaphor of sleep throughout, walking us through her own, and the collective, journey of raising consciousness.
Edwards explains that we move through several stages on our journey to awakening – Sleep-like state, deep sleep, dreamstate, and finally, awakening. As she walks the reader through the collective experience, she lays herself bare with an unfiltered account of her struggles on this path. Edwards discusses how her queerness, the loss of her father, and addiction all acted as catalysts for her growth, drawing the reader into a deeper understanding of how universal the experience of suffering is and moreover, how universal the benefits of mindfulness can be.
“A Drink Called Mindfulness” is a menagerie of science, mysticism, and personal experiences. Edwards describes the pathology of many common ailments and explains to an eager audience how through various techniques, we can begin to move beyond them. The book is highly interactive with worksheets and practices to try for yourself.

Edward’s point of view is humorous, insightful, and at times incredibly raw. If you are familiar with the self-help genre you may find this queer and millennial take on mindfulness as refreshing as I did. Edwards’ writing style is a delicious fusion of Mark Manson and Brene Brown, and if you are looking for something uplifting and helpful, I suggest taking a huge gulp of Erin Edward’s “A Drink Called Mindfulness: How to go from Hot Mess to Self Aware Before 30”.

As a person who has been practicing mindfulness, meditation, and yoga along with various healing modalities to address my own physical and emotional imbalances, I found this book so real and relatable. For me consciousness journal was something that I did not practice regularly and it became something that I felt the need to incorporate into my daily routine.
I really like how the author expressed her struggles so genuinely and openly. We all have our own battles but the experiences, emotions, and fear are relatable to each one of us. The other thing I like about the book is that it not only includes the concept and theory part of mindfulness but also it gives readers the tools to implement mindfulness in their daily lives.I also like the way the author portioned the chapters into sections with an analogy of the stages of sleep cycle.
I highly recommend this book to both who are familiar with mindfulness and need a refresher and maybe a few new tips to add into their repertoire and who are new to this concept and need guidance.A concise guide for newbies and a great review for those who need a refresher.
Overall the book is easy to read, truly inspirational, and insightful and the author's poignant story and healing journey is eloquently written. Highly recommended!

This book is so relatable and so real. It’s not your typical airy fairy mindfulness book with a whole lot of fluff and very little actionable and realistic strategies to survive the real world. It’s apparent that Erin Edwards has experienced life and has really transformed her experiences into invaluable lessons we can all relate to. Her compassion, wisdom, and perspective provide a brand new lens on what we call life in the fast lane. Especially during a time like now- a global pandemic- majority of the world is in distress and constantly living in a state of fear and hopelessness. This is the perfect book to have handy for some quick inspiration and realistic methods on regaining control over our own minds.

Did I mention she has exercises in the book as well? I love it when there are things I can write down to guide my own thinking and direct my own thoughts, this book does just that. It’s the perfect blend of information, real life lessons, tools for desperate times, and a sense of hope. It’s the perfect drink for me.

With a relatable voice, powerful story and extensive knowledge and education Erin Edwards has made the practice of mindfulness approachable for anyone and everyone! As someone new to practicing mindfulness Edwards book has been such a wonderful resource and guide, helping me focus more on myself, my breath and my personal needs. Combined with Edwards heartfelt and personal story of loss and triumph this is a book I can happily go back to if I’m feeling apathetic or just need to check in. I highly recommend this read to anyone feeling lost or stagnant in their lives at all. And for those who are quite familiar with the practice of mindfulness and breath work Edwards insight as to why and how these practices help you is invaluable! After a month of practice I definitely feel like less of a hot mess!

I’ve just started reading it and I think this book deserves a 5-star review. It started by raising the question: stress. I was especially convinced by the author’s approach because she has experience in herbal medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and I am a TCM practitioner and licensed acupuncturist. This two topics together makes this book even better! Erin started the whole book by mentioning four steps: phase where you are about to fall asleep, stages that you are sleeping, and the last stage being wake up. I also love the 5-minute self-awareness practices throughout the book! Can’t wait to explore this journey with Erin!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through the techniques explored in this book. Being a millennial, I had all the 'aah I relate to that' and 'yep how did you know?' moments. Most importantly I shared some of the techniques with a close relative who suffers depression, and they snatched up the book straight away. A lovely help book. Definitely recommend.
