  Very handy tool to have especially if you own a reptile where UVI index needs to be monitored. I own a bearded dragon and was curious to see what level of UVI was being outputted by the UVB bulb I have. Bearded dragons need a level of at least 3.0 to process their calcium and convert it to D3. By using the solar meter I was able to adjust my UVB tube above my tank so that my bearded dragon is receiving an output of at least 3.5. Also good to measure the degradation of UVB output. Easy to use just aim and press the button. They send you a graph with it as well so you can understand the different levels of UVB suggested for your reptile species. Definitely worth the money if you are serious about the health and well being of your reptile.
