Almost impossible to remove the backing. Thank god my daughter was around or I would have lost it completely. I put it on the door of my Weber Smokey mountain. After applying I put the door on the smoker and closed it then left it overnight. On the next cook the felt partially melted to the smoker. It does seal really well though to be sure.
It is now August 2018, The gasket is still performing well as very little smoke escapes during a cook. However anytime I do a high temperature cook, 300f +, there is a bad, chemical like smell coming from the smoker door. I have used the smoker for 20 or so cooks since gasket installation. I am now in the process of replacing the door as i had applied the gasket to it. Going to try the cajun bandit after market door to solve the leaky smoke issue without the chemical smell.
