I have a 2011 BMW X5 diesel which I use to tow a holiday trailer and was frustrated by the lack of gauges. For those not familiar with older BMW鈥檚, there鈥檚 only four actual gauges: speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and instant fuel economy. In addition, there鈥檚 a digital display that can be switched to show remaining mileage, average mileage, and average speed. The OBDLink LX and the ODBLink android app were easy to set up and work well. While I was really only interested in turbo boost, coolant temperature and diesel exhaust particulate filter regeneration, I built a screen that includes these plus battery voltage and fuel economy. I鈥檓 not certain I have the correct sensor for the particulate exhaust regeneration but it鈥檚 so easy to change so I鈥檓 not worried about it and will figure it out eventually. Screen capture attached.
