Homo Deus left me with a bittersweet impression of life, and that's not a bad thing. As Harari himself describes through the book, we have evolved to average experiences, and our brains basically add up the worst and the last feelings we have had, and divides by two for the final impression in our memories. Different from Sapiens, he allows himself some leeway to predict the future, but he finishes with a lighter tone, remarking that those predictions are only possibilities.
Just as Sapiens, Homo Deus is a clockwork, with a good pace of idea-base/history-interpretation from back to back, nicely packaged by the author's deep thoughts about where we are going with our past and current decisions.
I have had a chance to read it shortly after Sapiens, and I believe they pair up really well. If possible, I would recommend you doing so. They overlap a bit here and there, but that is not to say that he leaves work behind to tell you to read Sapiens instead.
Thought-provoking, deep, clockwork written, Homo Deus is a must have for everyone looking to understand our present and peek at a possible future.
