- Reviewed in Canada on February 10, 2025I bought this because my AV receiver (Sony, about 10 years old) decided to go up in flames so I needed something that was better than TV speakers.
I wanted to get another receiver as I have the speakers and sub that will rattle the glasses in the cupboard when let loose, but AV receivers are very expensive now and was not within my budget.
I was not expecting much when I got my soundbar and I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The first thing I noticed was that the sound was not as wide at the front as I am used to as the front 3 speakers are all in the same unit under the TV. After a week I was used to this and now it sounds great.
Coming from my Polk Audio sub I was not expecting this Hisense sub to deliver but it really does. It's not the best for annoying your neighbours with overwhelmed - Royal & the Serpent, but the movie experience is fantastic. I rarely have the bass above 0 as it does get quite loud. I had an issue with the sub when I first got it, it kept dropping connection every few seconds so I moved it right next to the soundbar. This completely defeats the point in it being wireless to the soundbar. The surround speaker wires were still long enough to put them on the wall next to the couch.
I really like the surround speakers, they are louder than I am used to and I feel more immersed than I did with my AV system. I don't like the speaker mounts as the speakers are loose and because of the wire on the back, they won't mount flush to the wall.
The Hisense soundbar works well with my Hisense Roku TV. I never use the included remote as it's simple to get to the features in the pop out menu on the TV. The biggest annoyance was that the TV remote is slow to adjust the volume so I often went way to loud or quiet. To resolve this I use a Sofabaton remote that adjusts the soundbar without going through the TV (or just use the included remote).
Overall I am very happy with this product, it is definitely not my fist or last Hisense product.
They definitely know value for money.
