I have always seen this type of trays floating around stores for years, I always thought it was a silly thing and never considered buying one, but as years have gone by, I find myself in a search for more convenience and comfort, then I see these again....why not!
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised and kind of laughed at having a tray sitting on my steering wheel, but I am really liking this addition to my vehicle versatility and comfort.
The product is simple really, all plastic build and form shaped into two sides, one for eating and one more for working. The part that sits on the wheel is universally hooked to friction fit on most vehicles, I tried it several ways to see what I could do with it, found that it works good with the steering wheel straight up and down, but then found it held even better when I put the wheel upside down, it allowed for a portion of the middle of the tray to rest on the wheel, improving the stability. Not too much to say about the formation, I like the cup holder, its formed with a lip, which is good for things sliding, although its not very deep.
Since this is all one plastic mold, it does come down to how rigid the plastic, which in this case I would say it is semi-rigid, it has a little flex to it, it sits flat and holds it shape, but you can flex it by hand, also when you have objects on the tray while installed, it will flex and drop it's position a little bit. I don't find the flexing up and down too much, once you situate yourself and adjust your wheel (if telescopic) you can get in a really comfy position and it will be plenty stable to do anything you want.
I used this product on a 2012 Toyota Camry.
Overall, I think trays should just be a standard thing installed in vehicles, so I of course enjoy this product, I think for 13 dollars its worth the money, your car interior will likely thank you for it :)....just keep in mind its not a super solid plastic item, however it works and will likely last a good long while of use.
