I started using soluble fibre 6 months ago to lower cholesterol. I used the tasty 鈥渙range鈥 brand for some time but was unhappy with the sugar, fake sugar or sugar substitute options. I decided to try Nutristat because it鈥檚 clean and Canadian, mainly because there is no added chemicals or sugars.
There is minimal taste and minimal texture, I drink it straight with water and I like that it doesn鈥檛 start gum up before I finish.
The only thing I do notice is a dry mouth, no matter how much I drink.
Fast forward 6 months and all my cholesterol levels have normalized, my LDL is .11 higher than the 鈥渘ormal鈥 range but I鈥檓 really happy that my efforts have worked.
Taking fibre is only part of the answer though it鈥檚 not the magic blue pill for cholesterol. I also switched to a 鈥渕ostly鈥 plant based diet, eating veggies as often as possible, cut out processed meats and processed foods, pork, fast food (unless entirely unavoidable) and minimized certain carbs, sugars and junk foods. If I鈥檓 snacky at night I have plain popcorn, it has fibre and tryptophan to help me fall asleep! Lots of effort to get the results but worth it to avoid a poison pill!
