Great book, 7 year old loves it, though I have to handle the making.
It's all great: The designs, the materials, the book, the instructions. There are many many dogs you can make. My only observations are that the ears really need super glue, not craft glue. And while the materials are excellent, and sufficient. There is not enough yarn to make one complete dog, but the only part that is missing is yarn for the knots. Each dog takes 8 yds to make a the two PPs, but is also takes 36" of material for the two ties that secure everything. In addition, I felt the 4 yards could have been a foot longer for each PP.. I just substituted other tough yarn for the ties, but I think they should have had enough included all around. This isn't a mater of how I did it vs the Authors. They say one needs 4 yards/PP + 18", there is just not that much yarn in the kit. One gets 4 colors with enough to make one dog of each color. Or you can use multiple colors.
If you had Pom Pom pets as a kid back in the 60 or 70, this is several levels of genius in PP crafting beyond that. But it is easier. The only part that is harder is you have to hair cut the PPs. I am used to that from fly tying, and the instructions are clear. So you can get far better results with this kit, and learn new techniques, yet it is all still simple to do.
