I basically suction cupped the probes to the back glass and plugged it in to the wall and plugged the heater in and it was ready to go. I connected the app to it and set it up. Everything was super easy, just one thing to remember. It will take a while to heat your tank to whatever temperature it needs to be at. so for the first run you need to make sure you adjust the Continuous heating time limit to something more then 6 hours as I didn't and got woken up as soon as I went to sleep with an alarm on the phone and a separate one on the controller itself.
It comes with two sockets so you can plug dual heaters in if you so wish in case one heater dies. I've had it running for a bit and honestly i haven't had any issues.
you may want to buy extra suction cups as the probes come with one on each. I didn't want the probes to float around so i anchored them both near the probe and higher up.
The reason why I bought this was peace of mind, I had an old tank years ago that basically boiled all my fish as it over heated and i wasn't aware. it made me stop owning a fish tank for years. Since I just got back into it, i felt i needed to have my heating monitored and from my research this inkbird was right up my alley as i already had the app from the amazing bbq controller they make.
