  Butyric acid is found in butter and a compound commonly used in chocolates as a stabiliser and preservative, giving certain brands their characteristic vomitty flavour.
  
  Anyway, it turns out magnesium butyrate has a number of benefits for gut integrity and for regulating gut inflammation. I will continue to take these to take care of my bowels. The butter vomit smell is admittedly kind of hard to get used to and I have to wash my rank hands after handling the pills, but at least the smell is not harmful.
