Like another reviewer here, I had this brilliant idea of using these as a peelable base coat. Let me tell you, it does not work well that way LOL
As a present for a kid, this set will definitely create excitement: Big box, big set, many colors, FROZEN packaging.
Color-wise, it is a collection of "kiddie" colors: Bright and bold, with and without shimmer. At first glance they look too bright and immature. But then I thought, if they are packaged in designer bottles, slapped on a designer label, and given a fancy name, you'll then think otherwise LOL
As a "toy", they are surprisingly pigmented. I thought they will be very watery, and take several coats to be opaque. On the contrary, I find most colors only need one or two coats and will look very decent already.
Some commented that they don't last. The picture I provided is three days after one application without touchup. Everyday I shower and wash my hair, clean dishes, type a lot at the office... Nothing peeled off. Only the tips started to fade. So why they won't stay on especially for kids? I think that's because:
1. They (or you) don't prep their nails. I prepped by buffing and cleaning and wiping with alcohol 2. Kids have tiny fingers and fingernails, so the paint has not much area to hold onto 3. They pick and peel, because they like to pick and peel... 4. They pick and peel, because they can't wait to try another color 5. They pick and peel, because they want to play with you again and again and again and again
When I peeled them off, they didn't come off in one piece. In certain places I had to rub and scrape. So do they last? I think they last a decent while; do they peel? Yes I could peel them off; was it easy to come off? It's ok with some efforts; will it be a good peelable base? So far I don't think so, maybe if I try a few more coats?
BTW, the clear top coat is garbage... It took forever to dry (in fact I don't even know if it will ever dry because I wiped it off at the end. Is it even a top coat? WHAT IS IT???)
The bottles are small, but for a once in a while makeover party, they should be sufficient.
