  This is a great pencil for writing, or anything where you will make short strokes. The rotation action is powered by lifting at the end of the stroke, so if you are creating long strokes (like drawing) it might not rotate the graphite enough and you will still get a flat spot on the end like any regular mechanical pencil. When it rotates it makes the contact area smaller. So you get the benefits of a thick pencil (stiffer and harder to break, longer write times between having to "click" the end to advance the graphite) but you get a thinner line. I would say that the strokes appear more like a 0.4 mm pencil, due to the rotation.
