I was led to this book by reading about another author and book. The author of this book was bitching about "Starship Troopers" and it's author Robert A. Heinlein's supposed glorification of warfare. It gave a brief synopsis of "The Forever War" and of it's author's own combat service in the Vietnam conflict. It was enough to whet my appetite as the theme is interesting and well thought out. Not always what one gets with a first time author. I've just recently finished the book, and while it is good, damn good and I will read it again it's not as good as Starship Troopers for my taste. It might be that ST has more meat to the story, TFW was a little lean at times and seemed to rush to a finish. Nevertheless, it is a book that is well written, and worth the time and money to visit another vision of man's possible interaction with other beings.
