It is small so it doesn't take up much space and I can use it at my desk. I work from home and have a TV table for things like tea, coffee, water, sugar, cereal, and sometimes a tiny skillet, and rice cooker because I have short breaks. This way I don't have to run to the kitchen to boil water. While it could be a little hotter, it heats faster than my electric kettle. The bottom doesn't have a heat element under the cup either. I don't drink coffee, so I just use it to heat water.
It is easy to turn on. I just put the water in the top then put the cup underneath then flick the button on. A red light turns on until the water finishes dripping the water.
