- Reviewed in Canada on March 20, 2024After watching news programs and reading articles regarding remote entry and keyless start functions and how easy they are to steal (CBC Marketplace, Donut Media, Global BC News) I was concerned about the security of my vehicle. The CBC Marketplace program even featured a Honda vehicle with the exact same system as my own car. Another concern I have with remote entry is if you press and hold a certain button configuration on the remote, all the windows and sunroof will open. This had happened to me. Unfortunately it was during an atmospheric river which brought 165mm rain in a 24 hour period. I needed something to protect my vehicle.The media could not be loaded.
Unlike the fabric envelope/bag type faraday blockers, this one seems to work quite well. The fact that the lid covers the top by a good 1.25 inches and it is metal construction does an excellent job in blocking the radio signal. It is bulky, but out of necessity. It is able to hold my remote (Honda), tag and small key ring I use to hold a shopping cart token. I modified it by adding a Case Mate (Pelican) AirTag holder in the (unlikely, but possible) event I misplace or lose the case. This will enable anyone who finds it to get in touch with me. It adds a bit more bulk, but gives added peace of mind. I will update my review in a couple of months to see how well it lasts and functions, but so far it lives up to my expectations. Build quality seems quite good so I am not expecting any issues.
If you have a newer car with remote start/entry/keyless start, I highly recommend this product.
