This device incorporates a 7" touchscreen with built-in speaker, a DVR (dashcam) with 1080P front camera, an AUX audio output, A bluetooth transceiver, a FM Radio transmitter, a WiFi radio and a 433MHz receiver to support the included wireless media remote. It supports wireless Carplay, Wireless Android Auto and Wireless MirrorLink.
Without an Android or IOS device attached the only operations available are settings and DVR. An SD card (Max 128GB) is required for the DVR functions. Once a CarPlay or Android Auto connection is made, all of the typical functions provided by the mobile phone are available.
The screen is a crisp and bright 1024px x 600px QLED touchscreen display with Anti-grare. The video reproduction is very good with good brightness.
The camera provide very good resolution and extremely wide field of view. The front camera is built into a vertical swivel mount for adjusting the cameras view. The cable is thicker than on typical car cameras and it can be difficult to route the cable so it is hidden behind panels or above the ceiling liner.
Sound output defaults to using the built in speaker but can be changed in the settings to use the FM or BT transmitter or a physical AUX cable. The built-in speaker is mono only and sounds a bit tinny but is usable. The AUX output port is not on the main unit. It is integrated into the power adapter. The power adapter plugs into a standard 12VDC power socket and provides two USB-A ports, one of which supports fast charge and the other supports wired Android Auto, and the 3.5mm AUX output port.
The device can mount to the dashboard with the included suction cup mount with 3M nano adhesive coating, and should stick on almost all dashboards. For those installations where the suction cup does not work, a large dash pad is provided to assist in securing the mount.
This is an good upgrade for an older vehicle when a head unit upgrade is infeasible.
