If you just want to slice a few carrots or zucchini, save your money and buy a mandoline slicer. I bought this attachment because I have carpal tunnel syndrome and I thought it would help with slicing veggies, and as I cook every day I thought it would be a timesaver. There are good and bad things:
    Good :
It seems well-made and sturdy, and was easy to fix to the front of my 5 quart KitchenAid. It stayed in position during use.
    Bad :
If you want a batch of uniformly sliced carrots, you will be disappointed. The carrots I was slicing were about an inch wide and even fed through the smaller funnel, when I got to the end of the carrot even with the pusher, the carrot turned sideways and clogged up the mechanism. I suppose this might be helped/solved by big fat carrots, but if you have regular size be prepared to unclog a lot.
My carrots were peeled and fed into the slicer. When I had finished, I noticed staining on the inside. I washed it immediately and the stains have not come out. I tried a little borax, but it didn't shift the stain. Ditto baking soda. I don't know if the stain will ever come out. in the scheme of things I don't suppose it matters, but I did not expect stains that can't be removed.

I haven't used the grater yet, and when I do I will update this review.
