I was looking for a good pencil sharpener for my colored and graphite pencils. This brand and make was highly recommended by a few people on YouTube so I thought I give it a try.
Unboxing: I received the item ahead of the anticipated arrival date. The packaging was great and there was no damage to the item when I received it.
Product: For this order, I paid a total of $9.49 Canadian, with shipping included in the price. The sharpener is made of grey plastic material; with blades made from Germany. There are 3 slots to sharpen pencils, 2 are marked 鈥淯niversal鈥 and the third one says 鈥漜olor grip.鈥 I was trying to figure out the 3 slots, I guess the one for colored pencils go to the 鈥渃olor grip slot鈥 and the regular pencils go to the universal slot (though I used a color pencil on the universal slot, no problems). I have tested my pencils on all 3 slots and so far I had great results, I did not get a breakage and all the tips are nice and sharp. I did notice that the color grip slot sharpened my colored pencil to a nice point while saving (or conserving) much of the wax material which is nice.
Pros: What I like about this product is the compartment for the wood shavings and it also have a thicker slot for a pencil with a thicker diameter. It does a good job sharpening the pencils.
Cons: What I don鈥檛 like about this product is that it feels very light weight and the design on the front with the dots, I thought those were rubber grips on the picture, but this is only just design (painted on), I think it would have been better if the manufacturer did a real rubber grip on that part to improve on function. The price with shipping seems a bit hefty for a pencil sharpener but the product did come from the UK. I think I could have saved money by purchasing this in my local art store; for future I would not pay over $5 for this sharpener.
Recommendation: I think I would rate this product an 8 out of 10 stars, for the quality of the product (I think the manufacturer could have been done this sharpener with more quality). If you are looking for a name brand sharpener that will hold the shavings I think this product will do the trick. If you are just looking for a simple pencil sharpener that will sharpen pencils to a nice point, there are other sharpeners in the market you may want to look into; at home I also use another pencil sharpener with a different brand 鈥 Steadtler, which I do recommend and I think is a better quality sharpener although it did not come with a container for the pencil shavings, I only paid about $1.00 Canadian for it from my local art supply store; the Steadtler have a nice weight to it (you can feel the quality).
Additional Notes: I just want to note that I paid full price when I bought this item, I did not get a discount for this item when I bought it; I was not paid in any way to write this review, just want to share my honest opinion.
