I decided to try the Smallrig version over the DJI (of which I have 2). While the build quality is good and the tightening dial solid, this product has a major flaw and that is the safety lock does not have a dedicated release mechanism. It is spring loaded but once engaged, cannot be disengaged to allow the camera (with an arca Swiss plate) to slide off. In fact, the only way to release the camera is to either loosen the tightening wheel so much that the camera can actually come out of the rails or painstakingly disable the safety lock entirely from underneath (which completely prohibits fast and effortless removal - which is how I have my gear set up using the 501 to arca Swiss for tripod to gimbal and back.). I have lots of Smallrig products and am usually very happy with design and quality but this one misses the mark on design by a mile. And it does fit the DJI RSC2 despite what some other reviews state. I suspect that they did not remove the track/gear bar underneath which allows for easier and more precise balancing but only on the rs3 and up. Leaving this on prohibits the plate from sliding into the gimbal
