So, they went more for a 'Dark Knight' feel; keep in mind this is definitely the first of (at least) a trilogy. Not a bad movie as a whole: entertaining I'd say, where The Batman is as much of a psycho as "the bad guy" (not to spoil it) -- PAUL DANO will steal the show at every scene, amazing performance from him!! Three scenes make no sense -- I especially lost it at the car-motorcycle chase. It felt like the producers saw the final product and told the director: "What? No car chase and explosions and car crashes!? Get back to the writers and get that scene in there, now!" Inorganic, makes no sense in the way it is brought in and very disappointing final product. Moreover, Robert Pattinson (who does a decent job) has the body of a 16 year old, not a guy who's been training and fighting street gangs, MMO style, for 20+ years.. I could 'suspend disbelief' about this, if it wasn't for the fact that the movie continually reminds us of it by putting him in baggy clothes until that one shirtless scene. The nail in the coffin, for me, is that he was directed to have the least amount of emotions possible. ** Geez people, how about we use his talents? Some other scenes, like a badly choreographed 'fighting for a gun' scene (you'll know it when you see it) should have totally been reshot, as well! So all and all, a good Batman. It is not as good as Batman Begins (Goyer/Nolan) and definitely not as bad as Batman & Robin (1997) ** Although, it is still not the "Night of Owls" (I'D LOVE to see that one as a movie), it is entertaining with a Nirvana song in the background throughout.
