The ‘buttons’ add extra area to hold down the fabric. And the tool is a must have to remove the pins if you need to. Without the tool, there is a high probability the button will break if you try to remove the pins using the claw of a hammer.
The buttons are an evolution to landscaping material hold downs.
Overall, excellent combo, works exceptionally well to hold down landscaping fabric.
