  I've used pH Meters, and not the cheap ones. But they need constant calibration. The calibration liquid expires! It's expensive for a hobbyist to measure pH using a meter. I opted for the simple pH test kit. It's good value. You use 3 drops for each test. There's 30 ml in the bottle. There are approximately 20 drops per ml, so you can do 30 x 20 ÷ 3 = 200 tests per bottle. And it's quick. I get immediate results, unlike the meters which take some time to settle.
