  I was a little concerned that at the price this might not stand up to my memories of the old sturdy unit my Dad had when I was a kid. I was pleasantly surprised. It seems to hold it's position well and the clamp was not nearly as fragile as some other reviews made it out to be. It's a light, it's not that heavy, you don't really have to crank the clamp down like a gorilla. Even on a rounded over, very thick, table I've had no issues with the clamp flexing too much and the lamp is held well. Glad I finally have a decent task light.
