  I purchased this prior to a vacation to do some hiking on the east coast. I already had the Peak Design Slide Lite camera strap I acquired a few years prior, and the capture plate that came with the strap works perfectly with this clip.
  
  I usually have this attached to the arm of my everyday backpack (of the same make) and find it's great for when I don't have an immediate need for my camera and want it kept close to my chest during a more treacherous stretch of hiking. I use it while the strap is still attached and switch between just using the strap and the plate as needed.
  
  There are only 2 downsides:
  1) It costs a bit more than one might expect for something so seemingly simple (though I haven't found an acceptable alternative for less)
  2) My wife thinks I look like a dork with my camera on my chest
