- Reviewed in Canada on December 26, 2024One of my door cables snapped on my LG dishwasher, causing the door to slam down every time it was opened--if you didn't catch it, that is. I was only going to replace the one cable but when I got in there to take a look, it looked as though the cable on the other side was fraying a fair bit too, so I replaced them both. Installation was so easy it's almost ridiculous! The hardest part is unbolting the dishwasher from the counter so you can pull it out enough to access the springs.
What a difference now that the new cables are on! The door literally stays open at the exact angle you leave it. It's amazing. I got this dishwasher second-hand so for all I know, it never stayed open like this before. Plus I believe these are upgraded springs that put even more tension on the door spring, making the door seem virtually weightless.
I'm so glad I went ahead with this repair. If your dishwasher door's operation doesn't seem as effortless as it used to or you've got a broken cable, installing new spring cables can restore that operation or even improve it beyond your wildest dreams. Now every time I open the dishwasher, I am truly amazed how easy and effortless it really is. It sounds insane but you have to experience it yourself to believe it. 6/5, so worth it!
