- Reviewed in Canada on June 23, 2022I already have a smaller Air Fryer that served me well for years, but I got this one for the rotisserie function. Out of the box the basket lid wouldn't open or close - the catch wasn't properly aligned with the opening, so I contacted the manufacturer. Unlike some reviewers who have complained about poor customer service, my experience was very positive. I had to send them a video of my attempts to open/close the basket and they promptly agreed to replace it. Which they did.
So now I'm all set for French Fries with dinner.....not quite. Getting the basket properly seated in the slot is extremely difficult and a true test of patience. The dowel has to be exactly positioned in the small hole on the left side of the oven and has to be done by feel because you can't see what you're doing. The basket itself is a complete PITA to get food in and out of. When cooking is finished, you have to balance it on the countertop, open the lid and tip the food out of a relatively small opening, all while wearing oven mitts because the basket is hot. There should be a removable lid so that getting food out isn't such a chore. The quality of the basket is very poor. It arrived with a small dent (which I'm living with), but it's cheaply made and I doubt it will last. I should also mention that fries are supposed to cook in 20 mins at 400F. I highly doubt that this machine is capable of reaching 400F as it took 30+ mins to cook the last batch I made, and they didn't even brown all over; just the edges. Another thing I don't like is the spit for meats doesn't store inside the unit, it's too long.
On the positive side, I like the shelves and if I cook fries spread out on the shelves they turn out much better than the rotisserie. I also like the interior light which is handy to check on the food. Overall I'm disappointed with this purchase. I just wish the rotisserie was more user friendly, the drum was more robust, easier to clean and that fries actually took 20 mins to cook!
