My elderly parent has struggled with adapting to the triangular base of this case, often using the edge of the base instead of the bottom of the base as the point of contact with the floor. The cane does stand on its own but only on a flat, levelled surface when the cane is vertically balanced.. this often frustrated my parent as he insists on making the cane stand on its own, but he could never figure out how to vertically balance the cane.
