UPDATE: Not only does this stop the chill being transferred from a cold cane handle in winter walks, the foam actually has a slight warming effect in the hand. I can live with the handle's bulkiness for the improved warmth. Five stars now!
I bought this to help insulate hands against the winter chill transferred through the regular walking stick curved handle. The thickness of the foam material reduces the size of the hook considerably, so be aware of this if you have big hands (men's medium glove size feels about the limit, but, as they say, your mileage may vary). The material itself is rather firmer than other soft foam handles on flat-top canes, but this might be expected with the different pressure on the curve. We'll see if it is helpful when the colder weather closes in. Four stars for now, as this is not an easy find at a reasonable price.
