I love boba, so I decided I'd start to make my own to cut down on costs of getting it frequently. The cost of the bag isn't the worst but you will probably be able to find the same stuff or similar for cheaper in local markets. I will start off by saying, the odor of the inside of the bag is strong. I don't think they are expired, but the scent caught me incredibly off guard. The ingredients say they are flavoured, however before adding anything to them myself, the taste is non-existent, with a little bit of a bitter aftertaste. To me this is fine as I like to flavour things myself with honey and sugar free syrup. They do cook fast, was done in about 5-6 minutes on a medium heat though they did end up smaller than I anticipated. With a home made brown sugar syrup, a pump of sugar free salted caramel syrup, in the (lactose free)-milky orange pekoe I brewed and honey and brown sugar syrup mixed into the boba before-hand, it is very good! Tastes almost just like what I get from my favourite boba cafe Chatime. I'm not quite on that level yet, but for my first time making it, I almost couldn't even tell the difference. Extra points from me considering I can now make my favourite drink, but more suited for my dietary restrictions and limits. :)
